Power generation and nuclear decommissioning

Power generation, nuclear decommissioning

We provide market-leading project management, design, construction, installation, testing and commissioning for power generation facilities ranging from nuclear power stations through to gas fired, oil, coal, wind and hydro-power assets.

We can deliver both single and multi-disciplinary projects and can self-deliver engineering and construction work packages through our directly employed, ground engineering and mechanical and electrical engineering skilled workforce. We have the flexibility to work at any level on project, e.g. tier 1, 2 or 3.

Nuclear new-build and nuclear decommissioning

We have over 60 years of experience in the nuclear industry working across the sector on new build, decommissioning, fuel cycle and defence projects. Our experience includes large scale civil engineering and delivery of EC&I systems during the last phase of nuclear new build in the UK as well as delivery of over 30 projects at Sellafield since 1979.

In 2016, our Engineering Construction team completed 11 years, without a RIDDOR* reportable injury at Sellafield. In recognition of this, alongside their fifth consecutive RoSPA President’s Award and fifteenth consecutive Gold Award, they received the prestigious Order of Distinction.

* RIDDOR - Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations

In-house expertise

We deliver mechanical and electrical construction for large projects in highly regulated industries such as power, nuclear, petrochemical, infrastructure, defence and pharmaceuticals.

Our work force includes over 1,000 skilled trades people working on sites across the UK. They are supported by discipline engineering, project management, construction management, procurement and logistics functions.

Our major mechanical engineering capability is supported by our off-site manufacturing facilities. This allows us to deliver large, complex, high pressure fabricated piping systems, from design and manufacture through to installation and commissioning.

Our in-house capabilities also include the design and manufacture of electrical switchgear and power distribution substations.
